Aussies Come Out On Top In Test Match

Last night saw the return of Test Match speedway to Foxhall and the young riders from both countries all contributed to an excellent meeting for the large crowd in attendance.

Despite the late withdrawal of Danny King due to a shoulder injury and the non appearance of Lewis Bridger (broke down en route) the Great Britain team got off to an excellent start and had pulled six points clear after the first five heats. At this point the Australians settled down and started to gain heat advantages of their own bringing the scores level again after heat eight. They then rattled off four 5-1s in the remaining heats to finish comfortable winners on the night.

For Great Britain Tai Woffinden and Eddie Kennett impressed as did Ben Barker until he suffered mechanical gremlins after winning his first two heats. Witches star Troy Batchelor top scored for the Aussies with Rory Schlein and Ty Proctor also getting paid for double points.

A collection was held for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund during this meeting and a total of £655 was raised for this very worthy cause - many thanks to all who contributed!!
