Big Turnout For Kims Cricket Match

Over 300 fans watched the 20/20 cricket match between a Witches XI and a Media XI at Chantry Park in Ipswich last night. Kim was in attendance and clearly enjoyed meeting up with some of his old team mates and ardent fans, including 'Mum Witch'. Ruby Woods.

Some of the Witches team looked a bit bemused to begin with, especially the two Poles Robert & Dawid, but they soon got stuck in and helped to limit the Media Xi to 163 runs in their innings. Scott Nicholls was very lively when bowling and took a wicket for his efforts, entertaining the crowd with his victory circuit afterwards!

The Witches batting started with Danny King & Ritchie Hawkins and they proved to be a solid pairing. One of the biggest crowd pleasers was Dawid Stachyra, who despite never holding a cricket bat before, scored a very impressive four off his fourth ball. Going in to the last innings we required 12 runs to win which seemed like a tall order but every opportunity was taken to score and we were left with three required to win off the last ball. Two runs were made so it all ended even on the night.

The total raised at the end of the evening was estimated to be around £1000, this will be confirmed shortly. There was a raffle with a large number of prizes, all kindly donated and an auction of Kim & Ipswich memorabilia. The EADT and Mark Loram also made generous donations towards the evening. Special mention must go to long time fan, Terry Adams, as for the second year running, he sponsored the scoring at £1 per run which came to a total of £326.
