King Stars On World Cup Debut
Witches skipper Danny King gave an assured and mature performance in the 2nd event of the annual SWC competition at Peterborough tonight. King who was making his world team cup debut scored an impressive 9 points (1 3 2 2 1 R) which included the home nations first heat win in heat 6.
He then gave former Witches legend Tomasz Gollob the shock of his life when he passed him on the outside going down the back straight in their heat 14 clash. In the end Gollob's class told as he recovered to pip the young Englishman on the finish line. King's display earned him a tactical replacement ride in heat 19 but his night finished on a disappointing note when he was left for dead at the start line in his final ride as his bike failed. Regardless of that his performance will surely merit a recall to the team for Thursdays crucial SWC ride off match on Thursday in Leszno where Team GB will face Australia, Denmark and Sweden in attempting to secure a place in Saturdays final.
