Louis - Prepare For New Riders In 2010

The Witches are more than likely to have new faces in 2010, that is the reaction to questions on next years line up from rider/manager Chris Louis.

“It's no secret we were happy with the team that finished 2009,” Louis recently admitted to EADT's speedway correspondent Mike Bacon. “And we would have liked to keep it together, but that clearly won't be possible and we will have to wait on Scott Nicholls and Troy Batchelor, as they are owned by other clubs. Having said that, I want 2010 to be all about entertainment and excitement at Ipswich. I want seven Witches riders who will love the new track and entertain the fans. Danny King is someone we want back, he ended the season as our captain and had a great attitude. I've seen Danny race all over Europe and if the track changes go through at Foxhall, he is one rider who will love the newly-shaped circuit. All of our club assets are high on our list to race for us next year, but right here, right now, I can't say more than that, with the BSPA conference only just over.”

Danny KingThe returning Danny King, who spent time away from Foxhall has said he wants to be the No 1 at Ipswich for may years to come.  King admitted he had worried about coming back to Foxhall after his departure to ride for Peterborough two years ago.

“I have had the happiest time in my career so far, at Ipswich last season. I've enjoyed every minute,” King said. “I can't tell you how happy I am to be back at the club and yet at the start of the season I was so worried about coming back. But the Ipswich fans have simply been brilliant to me in everything. I want to thank them so much for the way they have treated me. Now I'm looking forward to the future. I set myself high goals and I want to be the No.1 at Ipswich, and for many years to come.”

King improved his average, as he has done every year in the Elite League, and was rewarded with the captaincy after Leigh Lanham left the club.
