Miskowiak Magic Max Inspires Win
The Ipswich Witches comfortably won against the Poole Pirates at Foxhall Stadium last night to obtain all three league points. This moves them into 7th place in the Elite League table and out of the relegation play-off zone. They are now within five points of Eastbourne and have two meetings in hand.
Robert Miskowiak was unbeatable for the home side and scorched to a paid maximum, backed up well by all of his team-mates, including Simon Stead who proved a capable guest for the injured Danny King.
After an initial 4-2 to the visitors the home side quickly recovered to take the score to 21-9 after five heats.
Heat six saw Chris Holder on a tactical ride which allowed the visitors to claw back only three points as his partner, Paul Fry, trailed in last.
The Witches then surged ahead again and Poole found themselves seventeen points behind after heat nine. Heat ten saw Piotr Swiderski, guesting for the injured Bjarne Pedersen, sent out for a second tactical ride. However this time no advantage was gained as he was outgated by the Ipswich duo of Miskowiak and Kroner and although he did manage to get past Kroner on the last lap there was no catching the flying Miskowiak.
The meeting was won as early as heat twelve when Robert Miskowiak team rode Carl Wilkinson home for the home team's fifth 5-1 of the evening.
Poole did manage to restore a bit of pride in heats thirteen and fourteen when they gained 4-2 heat advantages against the home team.
Robert Miskowiak made another blistering gate in heat fifteen to make sure of his unbeaten record on the night and Piotr Swiderski completed his return to Foxhall by overtaking Troy Batchelor on the third lap with Chris Holder surprisingly in last place.
Rider replacement for Scott Nicholls accrued paid eight points and for Bjarne Pedersen seven points.
