Nil Points In Essex Tonight

Lakeside secured third place in the Elite League table by beating Ipswich 51-42 tonight.

After four heats the home team were already twelve points ahead and Scott Nicholls donned the black and white helmet colour for heat five. However this proved unsuccessful as the home pair of Kylmakorpi and Richardson won from the gate. Heat seven saw the first heat advantage for the Witches as Batchelor and King scored a 4-2 after Shields was disqualified for causing King to fall in the initial running of the heat. Batchelor then came out in heat eight for a second tactical ride and he combined with Chris Kerr to score a 7-2 which brought the Witches back to within 9 points of the home team. The following four heats were shared but the home team then scored a 5-1 in heat thirteen to secure the win.
