2009 - Having represented Ipswich since the start of the 2005 campaign, it was a surprise to many when Robert was left out of the team. However, he was subsequently recalled to the Witches' line-up late in June, when he took the place of Leigh Lanham and quickly impressed fans with his new-found passing skills and general desire to win races. At one point he had put 2.5 points on his starting average and took over the number one race jacket for September. He finished his season off in style by becoming the first Pole to win the 16 Lap Classic and the first rider to score a full maximum in the event.
