Witches Appear In Yellow Pages Ads

On the eve of the speedway season Ipswich Witches have received an early season advertising boost, through an association with one of the world’s best known brand names.

London advertising agency Rapier selected a speedway image, taken at Foxhall stadium, to appear on a number of prominent large-display advertising sites around the Ipswich area, as part of a Yellow Pages advertising campaign.

The picture of Witches asset Tobi Kroner, captured in full throttle action, was taken by club photographer Steve Waller and has been enlarged to 6 metres wide x 3 metres high and overlaid with the slogan ‘Suffolk. Home to the Ipswich Witches, 33 motorcycle dealers and several places selling broomsticks’!

In other areas of the country other well known sports or landmarks have been featured and in Northamptonshire for instance, where the Formula 1 British GP is held at Silverstone, a single seater racing car was used.

Speaking about the project the Felixstowe based photographer said: “The fact that speedway was chosen for the Ipswich area of their campaign underlines how well the club is known and associated with the region and how speedway as a sport is becoming more recognised. Having a brand like Yellow Pages involved with Speedway can only be good for the sport in this country”.

The posters are currently on display at five sites around Ipswich and two in Felixstowe. They will be visible until around the end of the March and for a further two weeks during April. See images below...
