Witches Move Up League Table

The Ipswich Witches took all three league points at Foxhall tonight against the Belle Vue Aces and with Eastbourne losing at Swindon have now moved into 6th place in the Elite League table.

The home team got off to a very poor start with a 2-4 against them in heat 1 and a 1-5 in heat 2. However the dynamic duo of Miskowiak and King were next up to the tapes and they didn't disappoint with a 5-1 of their own. They repeated this scoreline in heat 5 and the Witches were now ahead by two points. Heat 6 saw another hiccup for the home side when first Stachyra was disqualified for sliding off on the second bend, causing the race to be stopped and then in the re-run Batchelor was disqualified as he was judged to be the cause of Risager hitting the back fence. The third running of the heat saw Belle Vue romp to a 5-0 At this point the Witches appeared to wake up and with Miskowiak appearing in the next two heats he combined with first Wilkinson and then King to deliver two more 5-1 scores. The home team now held the upper hand and maintained just enough of a gap to prevent the tactical ride being used by Belle Vue for the remainder of the eligible heats. With the score standing at 46-37 going into heat 15 there was an outside chance of Belle Vue taking a league point but with Miskowiak finally passing Risager for third place after a closely fought battle for a couple of laps the Witches fans were able to celebrate another three point home win.
