Witches Off The Bottom After Poole Win

The Witches have hauled themselves off the bottom of the SSEL after a comfortable ten point victory over Poole at Foxhall tonight.

It was a nervy start to the evening with The Witches conceding a 5-1 in the very first heat.  A tremendous start from Lukasz Jankowski and good first turn from Bjarne Pedersen saw Poole take an early four point lead and fire a warning shot to the Witches riders and fans that Poole hadn’t travelled to Suffolk to make up the numbers. With both teams suffering early season disappointment this was always going to be a nervy and tense meeting for both teams.  It was however The Witches that took the initiative and made home advantage count with a solid team performance. The Witches took the lead in heat five with a 5-1 from Danny King and Tobi Kroner and with Poole only managing two more heat advantages including a Tactical Ride from Bjarne Pedersen in heat eleven were allowed to steadily increase the gap.

A Disappointed Poole Team Manager Neil Middleditch said, “I don’t remember a tougher start to a season for us but there is a long way to go and everyone knows that we are not a club who will sit back and let the season slip by.”

Witches Manager Peter Simmons who was happy to secure the clubs first three point home victory said, “This meeting was about a victory by more than six points, the manner in which we achieved that was unimportant at this stage, although I was happy to see one or two starting to look more confident out on track. The foot of the table is never a nice place to be and it is important that we move on from here.”
