Witches Secure Home Win Over Eagles

Despite missing Robert Miskowiak and Dawid Stachyra, both stranded in Poland due to the UK airport closures, the Witches secured a six point win over the Eastbourne Eagles at Foxhall tonight. Rider replacement was the only option available to cover for Robert and number eight Ritchie Hawkins drove up from Somerset at short notice to cover for Dawid Stachyra. Eastbourne were also missing Dawid Lampart for the same reason and their number eight, Chris Schramm, came in to cover for him.

Skipper Danny King and number one Scott Nicholls both put in dominant displays securing eight heats win between them and Ritchie Hawkins also scored an impressive 7+1. Matej Zagar top scored for the Eagles, inlcuding a tactical ride in heat eleven and Joonas Klymakorpi also demonstrated his liking of the Foxhall circuit. 

After a slow start which saw the scores level after heat six the Witches started to pull ahead with a 4-2 in heat seven and then Vissing & Hawkins combined to get a 5-1 in heat eight. Claus then followed Scott home to give us another 5-1 in heat 10 which put the Witches ten points ahead. Eastbourne responded by putting Matej Zagar out in the B/W helmet in heat eleven but he was held back in second place by Danny King and with Ritchie Hawkins coming in third place the points difference remained at ten. However heats thirteen & fourteen saw the Eagles score two 4-2s which put them back in with a chance of securing a league point. Heat fifteen saw Matej Zagar hit the front, followed by Scott but unfortunately Danny King was relegated to the back for the first time in the meeting and he was unable to make ground on Kylmakorpi so the heat was shared.

So the Witches gained two league points and Eagles gained one league point.
