Witches Succumb To Top Team

The Witches failed to beat the early pacesetters in the league with a narrow defeat to the Poole Pirates. The Witches were back at full strength following the recent travel disruption and had changed their riding order in an effort to defeat their visitors.

The Pirates have been in fine form in the last few matches notching up home and away victories and they led by 6 points with just 3 heats to go. The Witches hit back with a big 5-1 in heat 13, but Danny King's fall in heat 14 meant that the Witches trailed going into the last heat decider. Try as he might No 1 Scott Nicholls could not catch the fast starting Davey Watt and the Pirates took the victory.

Witches man of the meeting was reserve Linus Sundstrom, who combined with Dawiid Stahyra to outscore the two Poole reserves for the first time this season.
