Wolves Tamed By Flying Witches

The Ipswich Witches took all three league points against the Wolverhampton Wolves last night. It was a solid team performance by the Witches despite missing Olly Allen, who sustained a back injury riding at Poole on Wednesday.

Wolverhampton had to nominate Freddie Lindgren for a tactical ride as early as heat five after the Witches had built up a ten point lead. They made good use of this pulling back five points after scoring a 7-2. They also gained a heat advantage in heat eight when Ludvig Lindgren pulled off a surprise win over Danny King. Scott and Ales Dryml gained a 4-2 of theor own in heat 10 and the Witches were still nine points clear. Heat eleven saw Robert Miskowiak fall after picking up some unexpected drive coming off the second bend and taking a fence panel out in the process - Dawid Stachyra started to pull up, expecting the race to be stopped but the referee appeared to miss the glaring hole in the fence until lap three when he finally pushed the red button and then awarded the race as a 5-1 to the Wolves... Danny & Linus pulled back two points in heat twelve and the next two heats were shared. Going in to heat fifteen the Witches were assured of the win but wanted to retain the seven point gap to get all three points. When the tapes rose Tai Woffinden &  Freddie Lindgren showed in front but Scott then hunted them down, passing Freddie before the end of lap one and then Tai at the start of lap three - Tai kept the pressure on for a while but Scott then pulled clear - it was probably one of the best heats seen at Foxhall this season!

Comments: Race stopped, Miskowiak reared up and came off 2nd bend. Fence panel fell down but ref didnt stop the race - Stachyra slowed right down and then had to get going again as the red lights didn't come on. Ref finally stopped the race on lap 3 and then awarded it.

Comments: Freddie came out of the 2nd bend lap 1 and went between the Ipswich
pair.
Heat 14: Skornicki, Dryml, Stachyra, L.Lindgren 3-3 47-40 59.4
Comments: Wolves on a 5-1 but both Ipswich riders then passed Lindgren.
Heat 15: Nicholls, Woffinden, F.Lindgren, Miskowiak 3-3 50-43 59.7
Comments: One of the best heats at Foxhall this season - Wolves gated on a 5-1, Scott passed Freddie by the 3rd bend lap 1, then got Tai on the start of lap 3.
